Cambodia’s Funniest AI Grandma Goes Viral on TikTok: Meet “យាយតា AI” from thetinypodcast

In just 10 days, a TikTok account using AI and rural Khmer humor exploded to over 50,000 followers — and it all started with a grandma gossiping about a breakup.

The account, known as @thetinypodcast, has become a rising star in Cambodian digital comedy thanks to its signature character, យាយតា AI — a hilarious, outspoken AI-voiced grandma (and sometimes grandpa) who tells stories, gives advice, and roasts her neighbors in pure Khmer style.

> “Everything is in the Khmer language, and every video feels like it’s from a real Cambodian village,” says the creator, who produces the entire show solo using AI voice tools and rural visuals.

The creator mixes comedy, AI, and traditional storytelling to bring the characters to life, often setting scenes under palm trees, in wooden houses, or village markets. The videos use classic rural slang, daily life gossip, and real Cambodian attitudes — with the twist of being voiced by an AI-powered grandmother.

One of the breakout moments? A dramatic rant from grandma about a young man breaking up with his girlfriend — filled with brutal honesty, loud laughs, and grandma-style judgment.

> “She sounds exactly like your neighbor’s grandma who saw everything and tells everyone,” joked one fan in the comments.

The creator explains that the goal isn’t fame, but fun: “I just wanted to make people laugh. Khmer people love strong grandmas, and I wanted to turn that into something creative with AI.”

Now with tens of thousands of followers and millions of views, យាយតា AI is gaining attention not only for its humor but also for how it preserves Cambodian rural culture through new technology. It’s one of the few accounts that uses AI not for futuristic sci-fi, but to celebrate the charm and wit of Cambodia’s elders.
